Providing Artwork for Customisation / Engraving
Engraving
When it comes to engraving, the type of image file you provide matters for the best results. Let me explain it simply:
What is a Vector File (e.g., .eps, .ai, .cdr):
- Think of it like a magic picture that never gets blurry no matter how much you zoom in.
- Perfect for engraving because it's made of precise lines and shapes that keep their sharpness at any size.
- Ideal for logos and designs that need to look super crisp and clear.
What is a Raster Image (e.g., .jpg, .png):
- Imagine this as a grid of tiny coloured dots forming a picture.
- Great for photos and colourful images, but when you zoom in a lot, it can get a bit fuzzy.
- Engraving prefers the magic picture (vector) because it stays sharp, especially with fine details.
So, for engraving your logo on a tankard, if you have a magic picture (vector), that's perfect. If not, a clear black and white image without fancy shading or shadows works well too.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO not use a online tool for vectorising a non vector file, these sadly do work and there is no magic tool for this, they only make things worse, you will loose far too much detail.
The only way around this is to draw, digitally the design, within a graphic design software, we can do this but it takes time and is costly. As you need specific skills and software.
Thanks for understanding!
